A Battle Creek man has been sentenced to decades in prison for crime committed against children.

The Michigan State Police announced Tuesday that on January 7, 34-year-old Travis Tudor was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child; he pleaded guilty to the charge in August.

The investigation of Tudor’s case began when police learned of a person soliciting child sexually abusive material on Craigslist. Investigators were able to determine the suspect’s identity, and they were led to a man residing in Bedford Township. Tudor’s mobile device was then searched, and they found evidence that he was “manufacturing and distributing images of child sexually abusive material”.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet. There are many resources available to parents to assist in keeping children safe online. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provides a comprehensive list of resources on their website at http://www.missingkids.org.
