WILX.com reports that Bissell Pet Foundation is holding another Empty The Shelters pet adoption drive on Saturday at numerous animal shelters around the state.

All in all, 52 organizations are participating in Michigan. Locally, Ingham County Animal Control, Livingston County Animal Control and Shelter, Ionia County Animal Shelter, Capital Area Humane Society, and Shiawassee Humane Society are all taking part in the drive.

Adoption fees will be lowered at all participating shelters to $25 for the event Saturday, May 4. All adopted pets will be microchipped before they leave the shelters, and will also be spayed or neutered. Bissell Pet Foundation is requiring that all microchips be registered before a pet goes home with its new forever family. There will be a microchip registration fee and local pet license fees. Those costs vary by location.

Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty The Shelters began in 2017. They have re-homed more than 19,000 pets through 10 events, according to the WILX report.
