For the first time since 1945, the Championships of Wimbledon have been canceled.  The All-England Club announced as much on Wednesday.

Tennis' biggest event, and third major of the year, will now be played in 2021.  Simona Halep of Romania and Novak Djokovic of Serbia were the 2019 Women's and Men's Singles champions.

The French Open (tennis's second major) announced last month that they were postponing this year's event until the fall because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It had been scheduled to begin on June 29th.
