Michigan State set the tone early Saturday and never looked back, dominating visiting Eastern Michigan, 73-14.

Connor Cook accounted for three first-quarter touchdowns, pacing the Spartans to a 28-0 lead in the opening frame. By halftime, MSU was rotating in younger and less-experienced players as it built up a 49-0 lead through the first two quarters.

Eight different Spartans scored at least one touchdown Saturday. MSU's defense held EMU to 135 total yards, including just 1 yard in the first half, while taking the ball away from the Eagles six times. The Spartans finished just shy of 500 total yards.

Senior receiver Tony Lippett continued his hot start to the season, catching two more touchdown passes from Cook. Lippett now has five receiving scores through three games.

In mostly mop-up duty, sophomore running back Delton Williams had his first 100-yard rushing day, complete with three rushing touchdowns, one of which went for 80 yards in the fourth quarter.

The 72 points were the most scored by Michigan State since the 1989 Spartans beat Northwestern 76-14.
