Location, Location, Location! That always seems to be the answer when asked essential considerations regarding property. When it comes to retiring, seniors consider much more.

Retirees review cost of living, government services, health care facilities, weather and overall climate, crime rate, outdoor recreational activities, eating establishments, cultural and entertainment opportunities, and more. According to a new survey by Stacker, location is a factor of choosing a retirement spot but seniors also examined park access, affordable home prices or cultural amenities.

Using data from Niche, Stacker named Leelanau County as the best place to retire in Michigan.

With a population of 21,639,  Leelanau county is bordered on 3 sides by lakes. The county boasts 100 miles of shoreline, 33 inland lakes, and 5 islands. In Leelanau County, you'll find the Sleeping Bear Dunes which was voted as the "most beautiful place in America" by Good Morning America in 2011. The peninsula contains 26 wineries. Traverse City is the largest city within the county.
