When Was the Last Time You Went to a Drive-In Movie in Michigan?

It's a simple question, when was the last time you went to see a movie at a drive-in theater in Michigan?

All I can remember is going to a drive-in theater way back in the late '70s or possibly the early '80s. And if you would like to know what movie I went to see, I have no idea!

I do remember going to the Lansing Drive-In back in the '60s and '70s with my whole family. Those were the good old days because you could go to the drive-in theater wearing nothing but your pajamas.

My favorite local drive-in theater was the Lansing Drive-In.

According to the archives from the Lansing State Journal:

At their peak in the early 1970s, Michigan had more than 130 drive-in theaters. There were several in the Lansing area including the Northside, M-78, Starlite and Lansing drive-ins, along with the Crest Theater, which would later become an adult drive-in. The Lansing Drive-In made its debut on Saturday, May 29, 1948 at 5509 S. Cedar St., a mile south of the city.

I remember going to the Lansing drive-in back in the mid '70s when they had two dollar Tuesdays and they would pack the drive-in. Car capacity at the Lansing drive-in was about 1,000.

That was then and this is now. Here we are in 2021 and wondering if there are any drive-in movie theaters left? The answer is yes.

There are at least eight drive-in movie theaters right here in Michigan just waiting for your business.

One of those theaters is in Coldwater and it's called the Capri Drive-In. It's time to put on your pajamas, bring a few blankets, pop some popcorn, and really enjoy the whole drive-in movie experience.
