Treat Mom to Something Fun in Lansing on Mother’s Day
This is your reminder that you have a little over a week to figure out something for Mother’s Day. Whether you are planning something for your mom, your wife, or a special woman in your life, I’m here to help you out a bit. Let’s take a look at some fun things going on in the Lansing area for Mother’s Day 2023:
Thanks to the 517 Living Calendar for sharing ideas for May 14th:
Mother’s Day Paint Party with Paint Your Poison in Grand Ledge - Paint a flower-themed wine glass.
Mother’s Day River Cruise on the Michigan Princess Riverboat in Lansing – Live music, delicious buffet dinner and cash bar…plus the beautiful views of cruising on the Grand River.
Wicked at the Wharton Center on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing - Enjoy this Broadway show that looks at what happened in the Land of Oz ... but from a different angle.
Mother’s Day DIY Flower Bouquet at Constellation Cat Café in East Lansing - Make a beautiful fake flower bouquet that will last forever. Ticket includes craft supplies and finished product, instruction and cat room time.
Piano Monster: For Mothers Everywhere at Michigan State University’s Fairchild Theatre - The Michigan State University College of Music will honor mothers and motherhood with a beautiful display of piano virtuosity in a specially-themed concert on campus this Mother’s Day featuring four grand pianos on one stage and six artist-faculty from the College’s Keyboard Area.
For the outdoorsy mom, how about a hike at Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing? Pair this with stopping by a restaurant for brunch and she’ll be happy to have some fresh air and no need to cook!
If you’re looking for something to buy, but not sure what to get her, gift certificates are always a good option. Think about your mom’s favorite things - or things that she’d like but doesn’t want to do for herself - and treat her to something fun like a trip to the spa, nail salon or maybe some new running shoes!
Antother thought is to give mom the gift of time! I have a friend who goes to a movie by herself on Mother’s Day. Sometimes TWO movies! Make sure mom doesn’t have to lift a finger – at least one day – as you help with housework! And, make sure she gets to eat her favorite food...even if it's nachos!
Whatever you do, and whether you are near or far, take time to show your mom some love.
