When and Where Did the Train Derailment Occur?

It was a close call Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 7:30 am when a train derailed in Warren, Michigan.

A Canadian National train was hauling 151 cars near 9 Mile Road and Stephens Road when 16 of the cars came off the tracks.

Crews are still at the scene repairing the tracks so traffic in the city can get back to normal.

Was the Train Hauling Anything Toxic?

This is where things could have been much worse for those in the area of the train derailment because there were hazardous materials that were being hauled. Fortunately, the tankers with chlorine and hydrochloric acid did not derail. This could have been deadly for anyone on or near the scene if these tankers would have spilled.

There was one particular tanker that was hauling unrefined alcohol. This tanker did get a small leak but was no danger to the emergency crews or the public.

Were There Any Injuries During the Derailment?

The good news is there were no chemical spills, fires, or injuries to the train workers, emergency crews, or anyone in the public.

The breaking system that was installed into the train to prevent derailment of cars is what kept the other 135 cars on the tracks.

According to FOX 17, the clean-up of the derailment should be clear by late Friday or early Saturday.
