Thousands Lose Power in Michigan Overnight
Well, we told you yesterday morning that there was the chance for some strong thunderstorms overnight and apparently those storms did hit several parts of the lower peninsula and caused some damage and power outages. The National Weather Service issued a A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for multiple counties late in the day on Tuesday as there was the threat of some strong winds, heavy rains and lightning with those storms.
According to the Consumers Energy outage map, as of 5:30 am on Wednesday morning, there were around 20,000 customers in Michigan that were without power. Most of the power outages near the Lansing area are north of I-96 and are in Clinton, Shiawassee and Ionia Counties. Consumers Energy crews are out working on the power outages now. Some of the areas without power have a restoration time of 9:00 am and 11:15 am, while others have a restoration time of 4:30 pm. You can see the Consumers Energy Outage map by clicking here.
