The World’s Best License Plate is No More
It was once described as the world's best license plate and it represented Michigan! Now, it seems complaints that the design might not be the best for law enforcement officials to do their job, is prompting the plate to be dumped.
The Detroit News is reporting today that the move comes after a petition drive launched by St. Clair Shores Police officer Michael Yott Jr. He collected over 700 sitnitures to have the plates removed due to very low visibility.
"Sometimes the best way to identify vehicles on the road for purposes of suspect identification is by the license plate," Yott said.
The plates now feature the Mackinac Bridge against an orange sunset with letters and numbers printed in white. The redesign will have a more subtle yellow-orange colored background with black letters.
"We made some changes to the design after a year to ensure it can be very easily read in all conditions, particularly at night," Yott added.
While some applaud the decision, others aren't too pleased. What do you think?
