With the devastating winter we just had the experts figured it would take longer than usual for much of the ice to melt on the Great Lakes. They say for example only about 60% of Lake Superior is clear. The rest is still ice covered. As a result many freighters (like the one pictured below) have been having a tougher time making it through.

A number of ice cutters have been hard at work doing their best to try and clear a path. At this point there's no telling when their work will be complete.
