The notion that cities in this nation like San Francisco are allowed to flaunt federal law is unbelievable when it comes to kicking criminal illegal aliens out of the country.

The idea of ‘sanctuary cities’ as safe havens for hard core criminals that are also illegal aliens has been an emotional battle for years. Now with the random shooting death of 32 year old Kate Steinle. She was shot to death on July 1 on one of San Francisco's busiest piers. Her killer is identified as Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who has been kicked out of America 5 times and is a convicted felon at least 7 times over. Sanchez has told investigators he decided to travel to San Francisco specifically because he knew he was very unlikely to get deported.

Meanwhile the San Francisco Sheriff- still defends and advocates the safe haven for convicted illegal felons. "I firmly believe it makes us safer," San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi told CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper." "We're a world-renowned city with a large immigrant population. ... From a law enforcement perspective, we want to build trust with that population."

Well for the record this is a Sheriff who was convicted for unlawful imprisonment in a case where he assaulted his wife physically. Seems The City By The Bay may need a new leader in the Sheriff’s Department.

Sanctuary cities will be a thing of the past someday soon. Hopefully it will come before a father has to hold his dying daughter in a crowded public park.
