The Long Range Goal: Additional Jobs for Michigan
Encourage more foreign companies to expand to the Great Lakes region. That's the objective of the Council of Great Lakes Governors. Along with Michigan seven other states are represented. Now it's been announced former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is getting involved.
Paulson along with Governor Snyder are holding a forum this summer. They will discuss how best to ensure when foreign investors are thinking about expanding they will consider the Great Lakes area first.
Paulson cites China as a good example. He says Michigan's success at reducing auto emissions would provide the kind of know-how that could help China deal with its ongoing pollution problems.
