Here in Michigan, we have very little reason to think much about hurricanes so when a Michigan meteorologist posed a question about hurricanes and the equator recently it gave pause and something to ponder.

Michigan is so far away from the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico it's crazy to think a hurricane could touch us. Or is it?

Forecast models for major hurricane Pamela suggest the Pacific Ocean cyclone will make landfall in Mexico then cross the entire continent to bring remnants to Michigan.
