It's be a long-waited construction project that needed to happen in Downtown Jackson. Two railroad bridges are set to be updated, as they are both over 100 years old.

This project, will begin on Monday, June 1st. Over the next five months, Consumers Energy will be updating the electrical systems which are underground first, causing lane and street closures, according to WILX.

The actual bridges themselves are not planned to be replaced until the summer of 2021. Currently, the Michigan Department of Transportation has allotted $17.4 million to the project.

The bridges themselves, are low hanging, becoming more of a hazard for semi-trucks, which get stuck under the bridges a few times a year. They are also hoping to update the outdated infrastructure.
