St. Patrick’s Day Parade Canceled in Boston

According to WILX, the St. Patrick's Day parade in Boston has officially been canceled. This sort of thing is happening all over the United States.

"This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that we are doing what is needed to keep the residents of Boston safe and healthy," Mayor Marty Walsh said in a statement.

The parade is scheduled for Sunday. The situation is still developing; however, the risk to city residents is currently low.

Walsh also said, "our top priority is preventing any new cases, to the best of our ability, and we are paying close attention to guidance from public health officials."

There are 41 confirmed and presumptive coronavirus cases in Massachusetts, according to the Boston Herald.

By the way, this comes after the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, Ireland was cancelled.

How about this fact: the largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the world isn't in Boston or Dublin. It's in New York, and it's still on as of Tuesday.
