According to a report from WILX.com, seasonal speed and weight restrictions for the spring thaw will go into effect Friday morning for most regions across Mid-Michigan.

The rules are geared to preserve area roadways from heavy trucks beating up pavement while snow and freeze layers melt.

The City of East Lansing and Ingham County will be the first to implement the restrictions, beginning Friday. Clinton, Eaton, and Jackson Counties will all follow suit on Monday, along with the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Any state trunk line could see legal weight limits reduced by 35 percent. For full details, visit this link to WILX.com.
