Spartan Hopeful Back in Court
A probable cause hearing continues today in Wayne County for a man once thought to be a future Spartan football player.
The Detroit News is reporting today that Jayru Campbell is back in court to resume a hearing that began last month to determine if there is enough evidence to bind him over to Circuit Court for trial on claims he assaulted a woman during a dispute involving a telephone.
The case is just the last brush with the law for the Cass Tech High School standout.
Campbell was just 17 at the time when he body-slammed a security guard at his high school who had asked that he remove his hood. He was sentenced to just 60 days in jail for the incident.
This latest incident involves a 17-year-old girl. The woman claims Campbell allegedly assaulted her during an unarmed robbery. He denies the claim.
