Freshmen Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin of Michigan is one of those precious 33 or so member of Congress representing a district carried by President Donald Trump in 2016. In fact, President Trump carried Michigan’s 8 th Congressional District by about 7 points during his election and Slotkin won the seat by less than 4 points in 2018. So with 2020 looming large Slotkin is among those trying to figure out how to get re-elected with an ever more agitated district.

Recent polling from several sources indicate that Americans in general are souring with the recent impeachment efforts by Slotkin and her fellow Democrats. Despite promising to deliver the goods on Trump, Congressman Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee seemed to come up short during televised hearings with 9 witnesses over the past couple of weeks.

It may also be that people are just tired of it because it looks like everything else like USMCA, infrastructure and the Opioid Crisis along with a host of other important issues are just being pushed to the side. Impeachment 24-hours a day it doesn’t seem to be selling in the center of the country or anywhere else for that matter.

An Emerson poll  has found support among independents has flipped since October when impeachment had a 13 point advantage with those voters. It is now being rejected by a 15-point margin.

Despite that, Slotkin today, on The Steve Gruber Show would not say whether or not she would continue to support impeachment. She voted along with nearly every other Democrat a few weeks ago to consider impeachment of The President and right now she doesn’t seem inclined to change her mind.
