See Which Mid-Michigan Highways Will Get Fixed Under New Plan

During Wednesday's State of The State Address, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer unveiled a plan to finally start fixing the damn roads. The plan was approved by the Michigan State Transportation Commission on Thursday.

The Detroit News published the lists of road projects that will be possible under the new bond sales plan, and a list of proposed projects that will be accelerated due to the new avenues of financing. There will be some major road work going on around Mid-Michigan over the next three years.

New projects made possible by the plan include the following:

• The rebuild of I-69 in Clinton County between I-96 and Airport Road in 2021
• The rebuild of I-69 in Eaton County between the Calhoun/Eaton County Line and Nye Highway in 2020
• The rebuild of I-69 in Eaton County between Island Highway and Nye Highway in 2020
• The rebuild of I-496 in Eaton County between I-96 and Lansing Road in 2020
• The replacement of the Eastbound I-96 bridge deck in Eaton County over Billwood Highway and the Grand River in 2020.
• The replacement of eleven bridges in Ingham County along US-127 north of I-96 in 2022
• The rehabilitation of US-127 in Ingham County from the Jackson County line to M-36 in 2022
• The rebuild of I-496 in Ingham County from Lansing Road to the Grand River in 2023
• The rebuild of US-127 in Ingham County from I-96 to the I-496 Interchange in 2022
• The rebuild of I-94 in Jackson County from Michigan Avenue to M-60 in 2022
• The rebuild of the I-94 bridge in Jackson County over West Avenue in 2021
• The rebuild of the interchange of I-94 in Jackson County at West Avenue in 2021
• The rebuild of I-96 in Livingston County between Chilson Road and Dorr Road in 2023

Projects that were already planned, but now will be accelerated are:

• The replacement of the Eastbound I-96 bridge deck in Eaton County over Billwood Highway and the Grand River in 2023
• The preservation of 20 bridges along I-496 in Ingham County between Lansing Road and the Grand River in 2023
• The upgrading of seven bridges along US-127 in Ingham County north of I-96 in 2022
• The upgrading of twelve bridges along US-127 in Ingham County between the Jackson County line and M-36 in 2023
• The preservation of 12 bridges along I-94 in Jackson County between Michigan Avenue and M-60 in 2022
• The road rehabilitation of I-94 in Jackson County between Michigan Avenue and the Jackson County line in 2022
