Recall Alert: Thousands Of Cooper Tires Put Drivers At Risk
And the recall parade continues and, surprisingly, it's not food. We are closing out the 3rd quarter of the year and here's a thumbnail of where we stand in terms of 2019 recalls: cookies, chicken, barbies, drills, flour, infant medicine, fruit, canned spaghetti, tattoos, sausage, marijuana, Replax for migraines and hamburger buns a few days ago. Some of the recalls have been more urgent than others but all had to do with safety. This latest recall certainly falls under the urgent category.
According to an article on landline.media, Cooper Tire is recalling thousands of Roadmaster Drive tires; specifically the RM 852 RM size 295/75R22.5 with DOT date codes 4618 through 4818. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has documented that the issue is with the sidewall of the tires in question. NHTSA has determined that the inner liner gauge may be too thin allowing the tire sidewall to fail which may cause the tire to rapidly deflate increasing the risk of a crash.
