In Washington DC a 6th grade teacher assigned students an unorthodox homework assignment.  The teacher asked students to draw comparisons between former president George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler.

Parents of the McKinley Tech Middle School students were outraged.  The assignment instructed students to draw comparisons from two different readings and fill in a Venn diagram with similarities and differences between Bush and Hilter.

A spokesperson for the schools said that the readings were on the approved curriculum list, but that they were not necessarily meant to be compared and contrasted in this way.

The teacher said that they used "extremely poor judgement and shortsightedness."  The teacher is still employed by the school and is required to apologize to students.

If this were your child, how would you react?
