Not long ago, I went to a meeting downtown with a colleague and when he parked, I offered him some change to feed the meter.

He declined and took a tiny metal stick that was on his key ring, inserted it into the meter, and just like that his parking was paid. He explained that he would pay the company that made that tiny metal stick and he could use it whenever he parked at a meter downtown.

I had no idea that was a thing. Well according to WILX-TV, very soon you won't need a stick...or even change...to feed the meters when you park downtown.

There's an app for that. And it's coming this Summer.

So, you'll be able to park at a meter, whip out your smartphone and pay for your parking. Just like that. Kind of makes me want  to go downtown and park once just so I can use the app...I think...
