MSU, U-M Both Lose Players To Transfer
Michigan State Football sustained another blow to its already thin defensive line. According to the Detroit Free Press, redshirt freshman and former 3-star recruit Cassius Peat has been granted his release from MSU and will reportedly transfer to Eastern Arizona, a junior college. Peat had not been practicing with the team during camp, but was expected to play a key reserve role at defensive tackle.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Free Press also reports attrition in Ann Arbor as highly touted freshman wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell has left school and is opening his nationwide recruitment. Mitchell had been suspended by Coach Jim Harbaugh for reasons unknown to the public and press. Mitchell would have to sit a season before playing if he were to transfer to another FBS (Division I) program, which would in essence be a redshirt season. He can play immediately if he decides to go the route of a smaller division program or junior college.
