Today the MSU Board of Trustees took a vote and decided next academic year room and board rates will go up 3.95% for those who live in residence halls. So for the 2014-15 school year total residence hall housing and dining costs will be $9,154.

School officials say  they always work hard to try and keep rate increases as low as possible. They say one reason they have to require students to pay more this time is due to the extensive renovation work being done across campus. The say, for example, many residence halls are over 60 years old and are in need of repairs.
