Remember last week all of the hoopla over former Michigander billionaire Stephen Ross.  He held a fundraiser for President Trump last week which in the minds of the liberals makes him a racist supporter.

An opinion writer for The Detroit News Bankole Thompson misinformed the readers of The Detroit News and his readers when he wrote:

Ross, who owns Equinox and SoulCycle fitness clubs and the Miami Dolphins with an estimated net worth of $7.7 billion

Technically he owns a company that has a majority ownership in Equinox and SoulCycle, he is not someone who actually has anything to do with running the companies.  I think it is fair to say when we think of someone owning a company they actually run it.

That stated Mr. Thompson went on to write:

Seeing the damage Ross’ support of Trump caused, Scott DeRue, dean of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, issued a statement disassociating the school from the New York fundraiser.

“Many members of our community have shared their concerns related to a political fundraiser that will be hosted by Stephen M. Ross,” DeRue said in an email to students. “I want to thank you for expressing your concerns. We are a community where people of all backgrounds and perspectives are both welcome and encouraged to share their views. We do not endorse or support this or any other fundraising event for political candidates.”

Ross has been many things to many people, entities and programs, and his generous donations to various causes in the past should not be discounted.

But we can now add a major supporter of President Trump to Ross’ latest resume at a time when the nation is facing great moral and political crisis.

I wrote Mr. Thompson this morning informing him of the following that was published by the Washington Free Beacon over the weekend:

These Top Democrats Took Money From Billionaire Trump Supporter Stephen Ross

Some Dems received donations as recently as 2018

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) $15,700 (most recently in 2015)

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.) $4,000

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) $2,500 (in 2016)

Sen. Ron Wyden (D., Ore.) $2,500 (in 2016)

Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.) $4,600

Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) $2,700 (in 2018)

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.), chairman of House Judiciary Committee $14,400 (most recently in 2016)

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee $112,500

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee $10,000

New Jersey Democratic State Committee $20,000 (in 2018)

Are all of these people complicit in his racist support or will they give his money back.  Also Mr. Thompson stated:

we can now add a major supporter of…Ross’ latest resume at a time when the nation is facing great moral and political crisis.

Yes it appears we can now add all of the above Democrat politicians and the Democratic Party as supporters of Mr. Ross, the racist sympathizer.

I informed Mr. Thompson in my email that I look forward to his updated opinion piece once he reads and confirms what I sent him.

I will not hold by breath for that update, but I do hope he surprises me and actually will inform his readers of the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

By the way the reason I wrote this piece is to point out that these "racist supporter" comments and accusations and attempting to tie millionaires and billionaires to one party or another are dangerous, both sides usually are playing in the same swamp.
