If you have to renew your driver's license, get some new tags or have any other 'stuff' to do at a Secretary of State's branch or online, you'd better get it done today. All Secretary of State branches and online sites will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Why? Well, because a new computer system is replacing decades-old technology.

According to the Detroit Free Press, if you've procrastinated to get your 'stuff' done, you may still be in luck because late fees will be waived if someone has an expiration date between February 11th and March 2nd. Here are some benefits from the computer upgrade:

  • Electronic records will eliminate paperwork.
  • Vehicle owners will be able to order a license plate, renew a snowmobile registration or order a state park passport online
  • Online options will also be available for auto dealers and repair shops

Click here to get your 'stuff' done today before the shutdown.
