WILX.com reports that a lame duck session bill seeks to end the four-plus decade law requiring a 10 cent deposit on carbonated beverage containers.

State Representative Joe Bellino from Monroe says that the current deposit system in Michigan thwarts efforts for recycling as a whole statewide. His proposed legislation states that the current deposit law would end in the year 2022. Refunds owed after that date would expire after three years.
