The Home Builders Association of Michigan says despite the cold weather the forecast for 2014 single family home construction shows continued strong growth in the number of permits. H.B.A. of Michigan says the reason for the positive prediction: increases in job availability and hiring, a continued strong rebound in North American vehicle production and a jump in housing sales last year.

Analysts say when we compare last year to the year before there was a 12% increase in average home sales values. That combined with decreasing inventories and the result was an acceleration in new home construction.
