According to WILX, if the Republican led Legislature and Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer do not agree on a budget by Monday, Sept. 30, the government would partially shut down.

A partial shutdown would mean around 30,000 of the state's 48,000 employees would be laid off, according to a report from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.

That shutdown would also mean 150 active construction projects across the state of Michigan would be halted. That would include the massive overhaul on I-94 in Jackson County.

If a partial government shutdown happens, contractors will have to secure the work zones of the projects to make them safe for drivers.

Whitmer says budget bills that have won final approval in the Republican led Legislature are a mess. Please click on the above link for more information.
