WLNS.com is reporting that one of Michigan's largest grocery chains is adjusting their hours to deal with stocking issues and to dedicate store hours for certain customers.

Beginning Friday, Meijer stores will only be open to the public between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Overnight shopping hours will be ceased, allowing Meijer associates to address issues when it comes to stocking shelves.

According to the report, shoppers who see empty shelves aren't witnessing a supply shortage. Store employees simply can not keep up with the heavy customer volumes.

Also, Meijer will open its doors early to seniors and those with medical conditions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those customers will have dedicated hours from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Additionally, service workers, including those in the medical field, first responders, and law enforcement will have dedicated hours on Mondays and Wednesdays between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

Meijer convenience stores and gas stations will also limit their hours to 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM beginning Friday. However, the gas pumps will still be available 24 hours a day with pay at the pump.
