Meijer Expanding Store Hours
After cutting back their hours in March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meijer is extending their hours as of Friday, May 15th.
Grocery shopping or "supply runs" as we've seen many people calling it, has been a bit more interesting to say the least.
According to MLive, after the switch from their usual 24-hour schedule in March, Meijer stores will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
The March re-adjustment to an 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule was intended to give employees more time to deep clean and restock...if you might remember everyone buying up all the toilet paper and empty shelves at the beginning of all of this.
I, for one, am extremely happy to see store hours shopping as it gives people more time to disperse shopping trips over a longer period of time instead of milling about all at the same times.
The new hours kick off starting tonight, so Friday, May 15th, Meijer will be open until Midnight and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 16th.
With extending their hours, Meijer stores are also extending their dedicated hours for customers with chronic health conditions and are age 60 or older which will now be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
There will also be extended hours dedicated to medical workers, first responders and law enforcement, also from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
“As communities begin to re-open," said Meijer's president and CEO, Rick Keyes, it’s more important than ever that we find new ways to adjust and reshape how our customers shop for products they need while keeping their families safe.”
