WLNS.com is reporting that Lansing Mayor Andy Schor has pumped the brakes on a redevelopment project for Lansing City Hall.

The project was initially announced in December at the end of former Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero's term. However, a plan to relocate city hall, courts, and the city jail were not finalized. According to the WLNS story, Mayor Schor wants to look at options for consolidation with the City of East Lansing and Ingham County. This idea would place Lansing's 54-A District Court, East Lansing 54-B District Court, and Mason's 55th District Court all in one facility.

Though there is no timetable as to when any redevelopment plans will resume, in all likelihood, the project is not dead. Lansing City Hall is in dire need of updates and renovations. WLNS says that costs to update city hall, as is, would cost around $55 million. This cost does not include renovations to courts or the jail.
