Massive Michigan Recreation Route Being Proposed

If this is ever constructed it would be largest and most unique recreation endeavour ever. It would be called the Great Lakes Coastal Trail and it would total nearly 7,000 miles. It would consist of a number of shorelines including many Great Lakes coastal areas. There would be a trail for hiking and biking and even a paddle route for kayaking.

Backers say it would draw tourists from not only the U.S. but from all over the world as well. In turn they say that would provide an economic boost for all of the many businesses along and near the route.

A conference is being held in Saugatuck at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts this Thursday and Friday to discuss it.
