Mackinac Island is the Most Haunted U.S. Town Per Capita

With Halloween coming our way soon, it's not surprising to know that Michigan is one of the most haunted states in the U.S.

The next time you go to an old neighborhood and see old abandoned homes, how can you not help but wonder if you're possibly looking at a haunted house?

But then you have to ask yourself this question, do I believe in ghosts and haunted houses?

According to mlive.com:

Michigan's haunted locations are spread across the state from small villages in the Upper Peninsula to abandoned buildings in Detroit. According to the report, there are 51 haunted sites per 100,000 people.

Great, after reading that bit of information, I'm starting to get the creeps. Until now, I've never been a fan of haunted houses or anything ghost related.

I used to make jokes about spending just one night alone in a Michigan haunted house but I think I would actually chicken out. The one thing that scares me half to death are creepy sounds in the middle of the night.

What if people tell us these stories about haunted abandoned homes and it's all not true. Do we have certified ghost hunters that confirm actual ghosts found in these scary places?

Notably, Mackinac Island is by far the most haunted town per capita in the U.S. with 16 haunted locations per 478 people.

I do remember most recently reading about actual ghosts inside Fort Holmes which is one of the highest points on Mackinac Island.

All I can say is that the next time I visit Mackinac Island, I will plan on looking into these so called haunted locations and see if I can make any sense out of them.

This post is definitely timely based on the fact that people love anything haunted and scary during the month of October leading up to Halloween.
