The battle between Curtis Blackwell and former MSU Coach Mark Dantonio came to a bitter end in court yesterday. U.S. District Federal Judge Janet Neff dismissed the former MSU director of college advancement and performance's lawsuit that he was wrongfully terminated. He was suing Mark Dantonio, former Athletic Director Mark Hollis and former University President Lou Anna K. Simon. Judge Neff removed Blackwell's attorneys from the case and ordered they pay monetary sanctions to the defendants. The amount was not made clear.

Not all the claims of the lawsuit have been dismissed but it appears the three amigos are in the clear. There is still a matter against the Michigan State Police for wrongfully arresting Curtis Blackwell.

While Mark Dantonio has been cleared of this, he walked away and left Michigan State in the worst position possible. In the middle of recruiting season with no notice. It was a disgrace the way the coach with most wins in the history of the school decided to leave. He coached with class his entire career but to me, he didn't exit with it. He doesn't owe the MSU football fans anything. He gave us a lot. The best era of Spartan football I have ever known... But to leave like that after collecting a huge bonus, it will not sit well with a lot of Spartan fans and PLAYERS, for a long time if ever.

Kudos to Michigan State Athletic Director Bill Beekman for going out and getting the new coach Mel Tucker. He is KILLING it on the recruiting trail like Dantonio NEVER did. Hopefully, the players will translate to the next golden age of Spartan football.
