I don't care what kind of music may be your favorite...Country, Pop, Rock, Polka, Big Band...I could go on and on. But I won't. My point is this: If you are old enough to remember when it was played on the radio or have ever heard the song, you know it's the first thing you think of when I say..."YMCA".

The song by The Village People, right?!? I know that every time I hear the name YMCA that is exactly what I think of. The song was a worldwide hit and was co-written by Victor Willis, who was the first cop character in The Village People. Here's some trivia for you:

At one time Victor was married to a woman named Phylicia. They would end up divorcing. Phylicia would go on to find major fame as Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show. We know her as Phylicia Rashad.

Here's more trivia for you about the YMCA.:

Did you know that the YMCA. was founded in London, England? I didn't know that.

Did you know that the YMCA. headquarters is in Geneva, Switzerland? I didn't know that, either.

Did you know that the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing has a something called the "Healthy Living Mobile Kitchen Program" where they feed lots and lots of people in need? I really didn't know this but now I'm glad I do. How did I find out?

I learned today that LAFCU and CASE Credit Union got together and each of them donated $2500 to The Y's program and then the Michigan Credit Union Foundation matched the two donations for a grand total of $10,000. And what a grand total it is. The money will help the YMCA feed around 8,000 people with their Mobile Kitchen. The demand on the program increased dramatically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a real positive for the needy in our area and really great to see everyone involved getting together to do some good.
