Paul Gadola, retired U.S. district judge passed away at the age of 85 on Friday at the Burcham Hills retirement community in East Lansing.

Judge Gadola served in southeast Michigan for over two decades.  He had spent 25 years as a trial attorney and was named to the U.S. District Court by President Ronald Reagan.

Dan Kildee, Congressman D-Flint said “Paul was an exemplary public servant and friend, and he will be missed dearly. I have known Paul for decades, and I know his family’s dedication to public service is unmatched. Throughout his career, whether as a lawyer or federal court judge, Paul was warm-hearted, kind and respectful to everyone he worked with. And despite our political differences at times, we were always friends first – the way it ought to be."

There are no funeral arrangements at this time.
