New Michigan Recall: Ground Cinnamon

ALB-USA Enterprises, INC. has launched a recall for the ALB Flavor brand Cinnamon Powder.

Why is this cinnamon being recalled?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that this recall is in effect due to the potential of lead contamination in this brand of cinnamon.

While this product has not been sold online, it has been distributed through local retailers in New York, Connecticut, Michigan, and Massachusetts between December 15th, 2022, and May 13th, 2024.

Lead Poisoning Issues

While lead can affect nearly any part of your body, the effects depend on the amount and duration of the lead exposure and the person's age and body weight.

Short-term lead exposure may not incite any symptoms.

As for a child, if they are exposed to enough lead for weeks to months at a time, their central nervous system may become permanently damaged.

For adults, chronic lead exposure could lead to kidney dysfunction, hypertension, and neurocognitive effects.
