Over 90,000 tons of cherries are harvested every single year in Michigan, according to Wikipedia.

So, that is plenty for everyone to get help with their hangovers.

How Do Cherries Help With A Hangover?

Essentially, it is because cherries give the body a lot of melatonin, according to Parade.

"After a night of drinking, people may also experience poor sleep and sleep interruptions. Cherries can provide the body with melatonin, which is known as the sleep hormone and can help a person experience a more restful sleep the following day," says Ehsani. "Alcohol also can increase inflammation in the body. Cherries have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which not only can help reduce alcohol-induced inflammation but also promote overall health as well."

Tyla.com also shared that there is cherry juice also helps with the feeling of a hangover.

"According to scientists, a juice drink made from cherries and prickly pears (a type of cactus, FYI) is the best way to banish that 'morning after the night before' feeling. Impressively, the juice concoction almost halved rates of sickness - and slashed headache pain by a third. The effectiveness of the fruit cocktail is down to its rich mix of vitamins and minerals, which are said to cleanse the body of booze faster than any other remedy."

What Other Benefits Do Cherries Have?

Besides helping with hangovers, cherries also have a lot of other health benefits.

I found a bunch of them on The Fact Site.

  • Cherries Contain Antioxidants
  • They are not only good for your body. But they are good for your brain too.
  • You can recover from a workout more easily.
  • Cherries help with weight loss.
  • Cherries help you fall asleep and stay asleep.

So before you go out to drink this weekend, make sure you have plenty of Michigan cherries on hand.
