Two Michigan Cities Getting Spirit Christmas Stores in 2025
If you thought Spirit Halloween would disappear after October 31, think again. This year, the pop-up retailer is flipping more of its spooky storefronts into Spirit Christmas — and Michigan will be getting two of them.
After Halloween last year, Spirit flipped a handful of its stores in the northeastern U.S. to Christmas shops. The Spirit Christmas concept worked well enough that the company opted to expand it further into the Midwest for 2025. That includes flipping a couple existing Spirit Halloween stores in Novi and Grand Rapids, where Spirit Christmas shops are expected to open in early November.
What Is Spirit Christmas?
So what's inside? Think the same pop-up energy, but swapped from skeletons to Santas. Spirit Christmas promises an "immersive holiday experience" with festive décor, ornaments, ugly sweaters, inflatable lawn characters, stocking stuffers, and plenty of unique gifts. Lots (but not all) of the store's merchandise will appeal to Halloween-loving Christmas fans as well.

For Michigan shoppers, it means another option for holiday fun without braving the crowds of Frankenmuth. For at least two Michigan strip mall landlords, it means a little short-term rent and foot traffic.
Where Spirit Christmas Will Open in Michigan
Will Spirit Christmas compete with Bronner's and the big box retailers? Not really. But if you're looking for quirky holiday finds or just curious to see what a Spirit Halloween store looks like in full Christmas mode, you'll have your chance at these two locations starting in November:
- next to Kohl's on W. Oaks Dr. in Novi
- in the old Joann Fabrics store on 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids

Could Spirit of Valentine's Day and/or Spirit of St. Patrick's Day be far behind? Time will tell.
