Every once in a while, somebody will say something that suddenly starts a food craving that refuses to give up until it's satisfied. One of those food cravings where just the mere mention of the word makes your mouth start watering.

I was watching TV the other night when I could have sworn I heard someone mention "onion rings". I'm not 100% that's what they said, but the damage had been done. I'm now on the hunt for some good ones.

We're lucky in Lansing to have a popular Facebook group that's perfect for queries such as this: Lansing Foodies.

Lansing's Best Onion Rings

Rather than try my luck at finding the best onion rings Lansing has to offer on my own, I decided to pose the question to the hive mind at Lansing Foodies: "Who has the best onion rings around Lansing?" Dozens of local foodies chimed in almost immediately with their recommendations.

Nearly two dozen area restaurants got name-checked, but there were a handful that were mentioned (or like/love-clicked) multiple times.

All right. I've obviously got to put Olympic Broil on my must-try list. Their onion rings are said to be some of the best you'll find around Lansing. The turnoff for me is that this restaurant is currently "drive-thru only". If I'm eating away from home, I'd rather sit down and enjoy my meal some place other than my car.

I've been to Falsetta's Casa Nova for Italian a time or two, but have never tried their onion rings. Lansing Foodies members say they're among the best in town.

An East Lansing staple for decades, Coral Gables' onion rings also come highly recommended.

OK. I'm just going to admit it. I'm hardly ever on the north side of Lansing, and every time I've passed Nip N Sip, there's been no one there. I thought it was an abandoned building. Not only is it still open, it's also home of some of the best onion rings in the city, according to Lansing Foodies.

Not kidding. A chain restaurant actually lands among the onion rings Lansing Foodies like best. I'll have to try the ones at Culver's.
