A Michigan Motel Worker Makes an Unusual Find in a Room

Normally when I find that've left something behind at a hotel or motel, it's a sock that accidentally made its way under the bed, or I unpack my toiletries to find I've forgotten my travel shampoo in the shower.

I don't leave behind living things. But that's what one Michigan motel worker came across recently.

On March 14th, in Cheboygan, Michigan, a motel worker at Pine River Motel was cleaning a room. And upon checking underneath the bed, he was met with an alligator.

You read that correctly; an alligator.

This was the first time they've come across a gator, with an unnamed supervisor mentioning things like earrings or iPads that they've found in the past.

This 3-foot reptile, whose name is Wally, was accidentally left behind by a guest who had been visiting from the Detroit area. What was this guest doing in town that he would leave behind an alligator, might you ask? He was in town "showing exotic animals at elementary school assemblies."

Don't worry though, apparently Wally is super chill, and allowed police officers to handle him to remove him from under the bed and even take a picture. And in the end, Wally wasn't harmed and he made it back into the hands of his owner.

It's a good thing that he didn't leave Wally chained to a parking sign in Detroit, because oddly enough, Michigan has a literal law against that... it's one of the many weird laws still on the books in Michigan.
