Michigan Restaurant Named State’s Best Under-the-Radar Steakhouse
There are plenty of chain restaurants in Michigan where you can order a delicious steak and leave happy. But there's something special about those mom-and-pop, one-of-a-kind, standalone steakhouses that's simply next level.
Cheapism recently named "The Best Under-the-Radar Steakhouse in Each State", and you may have never even heard of the place they selected for Michigan.
According to Cheapism, you'll find the state's best under-the-radar steakhouse in Northern Michigan - a place called Vernales in Harbor Springs.
About Vernales in Harbor Springs, Michigan
Have you heard of Vernales? First off, let's make sure we're all saying it right. The "-nales" part rhymes with "rallies".

This steakhouse opened in 2014 in Harbor Springs, between Round Lake and Little Traverse Bay - just north of Petoskey State Park. Vernales brings exquisite fine dining to a rather rural part of Michigan.
Keep in mind, however, that exquisite fine dining doesn't come cheap.
Vernales serves a variety of cuts, including filets, flanks and ribeyes ranging from $39 to $53. American Wagyu and Dry Aged Chops such as the 8 oz. Manhattan ($69) and the 30 oz. Tomahawk ($154) are also featured on the menu, as is a 6 oz. Japanese A5 genuine strip loin at market price.
Vernales steaks are served with whipped potatoes and a fried leek garnish.
Like most restaurants that serve steak, you can choose to have your steak served rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done. However - there's another rung on the lower level of that doneness scale if you're feeling adventurous: order your Vernales steak "black and blue" - seared raw with an internal temperature of 110°.
Other menu delicacies include the Tuscan Mussels and Shrimp, broiled salmon with a spiced honey jam, and Alaskan King Crab. Get a side of Baked Crab Mac while you're at it.
