Lansing’s Bobcat Bonnie’s Loses Liquor License: Is This the End?

Amidst all the controversy and news surrounding the Michigan-based Bobcat Bonnie's chain, there is a new development.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission has officially suspended the liquor license for Bobcat Bonnie's Lansing location.

Why Bobcat Bonnie’s Lost Its Liquor License

According to the Lansing State Journal, "the license was suspended after restaurant owner Matt Buskard failed to pay a $450 fine for 'dishonored payments' made for alcoholic spirits purchased from the commission for the restaurant".

Those purchases, which totaled over $1,500, are still unpaid at this time.

You can see a notice of this suspension posted to the outer door of Bobcat Bonnie's.

This comes just one week after the very abrupt closure of the Ferndale location. When that spot closed, that left just the Lansing location remaining.

Over the past year, all six of Bobcat Bonnie’s other locations have closed—except the Lansing one. However, with this new development of the loss of a liquor license, it begs the question: what's happening with Bobcat Bonnie's in Lansing?

Is Bobcat Bonnie’s Lansing Still Open?

In an effort to determine if they are actually closed, I visited the Lansing location, and no notice about being closed was posted. Additionally, at the time of writing this article, it appears that the Bobcat Bonnie's Lansing Facebook page has been deleted. And although at this time Google says they're open, when I placed a call to the phone number listed, it went straight to the busy/disconnected signal.

It is unclear what's happening with this restaurant, which only opened its Lansing spot in January 2024.
