Michigan Officials Warn: Don’t Pet the Wildlife After Bison Sighting
It's that time of year again, folks.
The time of year where Michiganders and tourists alike need to be reminded NOT to pet the wildlife.
Bison Spotted on Highway in Northern Michigan
This latest reminder occurred on Friday, May 23rd when a "jumbo-sized mammal" (those are not my words, but those of MLive) was spotted in the middle of a highway in Northern Michigan.
A bison held up traffic on US 31 just south of Traverse City, and just as a reminder to folks in the area, the county dispatch asked motorists to slow down in that area, stay in their vehicles, and "please don't pet it".
Do Not Pet Wildlife
Let this serve as a reminder to NOT pet the wildlife.
Because it's just that... wild.

You have absolutely no idea how a wild animal will behave. Plus, do you really want something the size of a bison with horns on top of its head running towards you at ramming speed? I think not. And to be fair, this was a literal bison.
Other Michigan Wildlife to Steer Clear Of
Bison aren't the only animals you should keep your hands away from. If you ever encounter black bears, deer, geese—because those things will definitely fight you—or anything that looks remotely cuddly or adorable, keep your hands to yourself.
And if you think you're helping a baby animal that looks lost from their mother, think again. Michigan DNR says to leave wildlife alone and to not take baby animals from the wild.
Just admire from far away, stay in your car, and mind your business.
Stay safe out there.
