The Largest BBQ Chain in the Nation Closes Multiple Michigan Locations
The largest barbecue chain restaurant in America recently closed locations all across the country, including Michigan.
It is just not the year for chain restaurants and businesses in Michigan and across the country. So far in 2024, we've seen a small wave of closures for one reason or another, including:
- Hooters
- BD's Mongolian BBQ
- Bucca de Beppo
- Rue21
Now, we have another chain closure to add to the list.
America's Largest Barbecue Chain Closes Michigan Locations
Dickey's Barbecue Pit has been closing restaurants all across the country, Michigan included.
According to Eat This, Not That! Dickey's closed almost 100 locations across the US, 97 to be exact, which is approximately 19% of its footprint. Part of the reason for the closures is that Dickey's "has been working to 'clean up' and strengthen its system of restaurants over the past year."
Other reasons include declaring bankruptcy, in the case of some west Michigan locations.
It was within the last four to five months that the Lansing location in Frandor quietly shut its doors. The location is now listed as permanently closed. It wasn't open that long. It first opened in November 2022.

If you're still craving this bbq joint, there are other locations in Coldwater, Commerce Charter Township, Dundee, Georgetown Township, Holland, Kalamazoo, Novi, Rockford, and Saginaw.
This restaurant chain has been around since 1941, so it would be pretty sad to see it close all locations nationwide. So let's hope this is just a limited number of locations.
