Abandoned Art Stove Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan: A Look Inside

The above abandoned building is the old Art Stove Company, sitting at the corner where Milwaukee Avenue and Russell Street meet.
The Art Stove Company was just one of many stove companies in Detroit from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.....and it happens to be one of the last surviving ones.
Construction of the 14,738-square-foot building began in 1907 at a cost of over forty thousand dollars. The brick walls are lined with steel trim and the whole place was an impressive sight in that neighborhood. The showroom was on the second floor, where their prototype and patented stoves were put on display for prospective buyers.
In 1923, Art Stove was bought out by Detroit Stove Works, who in turn sold it to a real estate broker. The building was home to several different firms over the years until it was again sold in 2007 to the Houston Holding Group. In 2023 it was listed for foreclosure. As of this writing, it remains empty, sitting basically abandoned and deserted on that now-lonely corner.
