There is a legend of a wall of wealth in Northern Michigan that few treasure hunters have ever heard of - the Wall of Silver in Northern Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.

The story popped up on a Reddit forum dedicated to Michigan with the questioner asking,

Has anyone heard of the old myth about the wall of silver in Keweenaw County, Michigan? Never thought id be so close to a treasure hunt but yet so far away

What's interesting is that is was a rumor that few were familiar with, even when the comments came from people from the Keweenaw region and neighboring Houghton. The area certainly has a rich heritage in precious metals, particular copper, and mining operations going back to prehistoric times.

Some attribute the legend of a Wall of Silver to a barkeep's tale which may grow taller with each telling.

The western Upper Peninsula is certainly full of rich legends. One recently unearthed was the story of Peterson, a ghost town that can only be found once and can never be revisited.

If you do have aspirations of looking for the Wall of Silver in the Keweenaw, know that while there are plenty of adventurers who find the old mines and the regional tourism board lists top ghost towns to explore, the area's abandoned mines should be explored with an extreme abundance of caution and private property should not be trespassed upon.
