For Northern Lights fans, this is one of the best times of the year, usually through April, to see them. However, where in the world would you have to go to experience them? Certainly not around here because of all the city lights at night, and of course night time is the only time you will see them.

U.S. News says you could go around the world. You could go to FAIRBANKS, ALASKA

Man that's a hike and not really practical just to see incredibly beautiful streaks of blue, green, pink and violet dance across the night time sky.

So, here is a much better idea. How about around the MACKINAC BRIDGE?

So spectacular, isn't it?

But even better, head across the bridge to the Headlands International Dark Sky Park, which sits at the top of the lower peninsula, less than five miles from Mackinaw City. The park is rated as one of the top spots in the U.S. to see the Northern Lights.

Is this a good time to see the lights?

Scientists say this year, especially, should be a wonderful time to see the lights. They say solar activity will be at a peak, making for a more impressive experience, if you're in the right place.

Better get your trip planned now!
